When a phone restarts, it means the phone just comes on, shows the logo and then turn off. A second later, turns on again by itself, and repeat what it has done earlier.

This is common for most transsion phones, and some Samsung and Huawei too.

WHAT CAUSES MOBILE PHONES TO RESTART:

1.Power button

2.Corrupt Firmware

3.A bad battery

4.Other PCB(panel) problems or Power IC

Phone board or PCB (Printed Circuit Board)

POWER BUTTON

When the power button, or the power flex of a phone is faulty, the phone automatically turns on, shows the logo, about to boot to menu, it turns off and then turn on again.

How do you know your phone restarting is a result of a faulty power button

It is the fault of the power button, when, immediately you slot in the battery, or clip it(in case of in-built batteries), it automatically turns on by itself without even trying to turn it on. Attempts to navigate or control the power button usually proves futile.

Solution to fix a faulty power button

Some of these power flexes are sold in the mobile market, you can easily purchase a new one and replace the old one with it.

N:B - if this does not work, then read the power ICs and/or capacitors near the power flex and check for short. Service also works sometimes.

CORRUPT FIRMWARE

When the firmware of a phone is corrupt or the storage is filled with loads of files, the system tends to misbehave, of which it may choose to start restarting. This is common to many Samsung mobile phones.

How do you know it's fault of the Custom ROM or Firmware

You will know this, whenever the battery is clipped or connected, it doesn't turn on by itself. Charging it, shows charging, shows the battery percentage. Then on turning it on, it starts it's crazy act of restarting.

Solution to your phone restarting as a result of a Corrupt custom Firmware

The major solution is flashing it's firmware. As an engineer, you can make use of a hard reset first, it may be some minor issue or virus that may be erasable through hard reset. If after hard resetting it, there's still no change, then you will need a box or a tool; U2, NCK, Miracle, Eagleeye, and many other tools are there to help you, or you can take it to an experienced software technician for him/her to flash your mobile phone for you.

BAD BATTERY

This occur most times when the phone has been left for some time now or the phone battery has been in use for a very long time and is not able to supply the necessary stable current the phone needs to use. This most happen to iPhones.

How do you know your phone restarts as a result of a bad battery

It's the fault of the battery, if whenever you plug charger, it doesn't follow the normal procedure of showing charging sign and then the current percentage. Or it shows charging sign, turns off, vibrates and shows the logo, and then it starts restarting. It's also the fault of the battery or it's terminal whenever you try to turn it on, takes sometime to come on, and then starts restarting.

Solution to your phone restart as a result of a bad battery

Get a new original battery.

OTHER PCB(Circuit board problems)

This may just cause some general malfunctioning of the phone, causing it to restart anyhow it likes, randomly and at anytime.

How do you solve this

Service and heat the board. Reball the CPU, EMMC and/or RAM.

If you try all these on the board and it still restarts, try considering getting a new board or PCB.

Conclusion

After making use of all these solutions, you should finally come to the end of your phone's frustrating restart. Mind you, take all procedures with caution, as it may be delicate sometimes.
